Apple Fritter

A basic fritter recipe with a fruity apple filling.

ingredients

1 cup + 3 tbsp (125 g) plain flour (All purpose)
1 pinch of salt
1 egg
2/3 cup (150 ml) 1/4 pt milk or milk and water

method

1. Peel and core 3 - 4 cooking apples and cut into rings 0.5 cm (1/4 in) thick.

2. Dip in coating batter (see below) and fry until golden in deep fat hot enough to brown a 2.5 cm (1-in) cube of bread in 60-70 seconds.

3. Drain on crumpled kitchen paper,

4. toss in caster sugar and a little ground cinnamon and serve straight away.

5. If you prefer, fry fritters in shallow fat, turning each one once.

to make the coating batter

1. Mix together the flour and salt.

2. Make a well in the centre and break in the egg.

3. Add half the liquid and beat the mixture until smooth. Gradually add the rest of the liquid and beat until well mixed.

I love fritters, but the apple fritters never seem to be avalible where I visit anymore, so I'm going to make me sum of these :D

I LOVE apple fritters... My mom used to make them for me when I was little and serve them with French Vanilla ice cream!!! I will be making these this weekend!
