Chocolate Nut Loaf

ingredients

2 cups (225 g) 8 oz flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 oz (75 g) margarine
1/4 cup (50 g) 2 oz caster sugar (superfine granulated)
2 oz (50 g) mixed nuts, chopped
3 oz (75 g) plain chocolate, grated
1 egg beaten
4 to 5 tablespoons milk

method

1. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl.

2. Rub in the margarine, then mix in the sugar, nuts and chocolate.

3. Bind with the egg and milk.

4. Turn into a greased 500 g (1 lb) loaf tin and bake in a preheated moderately hot oven 190°C (375°F) Gas Mark 5 for 1 hour.

Dry as a stick! Don't bother wasting your time and money on this one!
