Griddled Figs with Vanilla Syrup

ingredients

serves: 4
4 ripe figs, cut in half, horizontally
2 tbsp sunflower oil
scant 1/2 (us) cup (100 ml) vanilla syrup
2 tbsp (25 g) unsalted butter
1 vanilla pod, cut into thin strips

method

1. Heat a griddle pan until very hot.

2. Brush the figs with the oil and place on the griddle pan and cook for a minute on each side.

3. While the figs are griddling, warm the vanilla syrup in a small saucepan and stir in the butter until the sauce begins to thicken slightly.

4. Serve the figs with the vanilla sauce and decorate with thin strips of vanilla pod.
