1. Work together the fat and sugar until light and creamy.
2. Beat in the eggs and vanilla essence.
3. Sift together the flour and baking powder, and fold into the creamed mixture.
4. Three-quarters fill 6-8 greased dariole moulds.
5. Bake in a moderate oven at 180°C, Gas 4, for 20-25 minutes, until set and well risen.
6. Serve with Pouring Cup Custard or Jam Sauce
